Biography

Howard E. Cox, Jr., J.D., is a Special Limited Partner, Advisory Partner and General Partner of Greylock Partners. Mr. Cox joined Greylock in 1971. He served two years at the United States Office of the Secretary of Defense, Systems Analysis since 1968. Mr. Cox served in the United States Army. He serves as a Director of more than 30 companies including three listed on the New York Stock Exchange. He has been an Independent Director of Stryker Corporation since 1974. He serves as Director of Cairnstone, Inc; GetConnected, Inc., The Harvard Business School Club of Greater New York, Inc., Thomas, Thomas & Walsh, Inc., Munich Re Stop Loss, Inc. and Business Executives for National Security. He serves as a Board Member of Defense Business Board. He serves as a Director of Foundation Board of the Forum of Young Global Leaders, Brookings Institution, Brookings Institution and ManagedComp, Inc., World Economic Forum's Young Global Leaders Foundation. He has been a Director of EXL Landa since February 1998. Mr. Cox serves as a Member of the Advisory Board of HLM Venture Partners. He serves as an Advisory Member of ISO Group, Inc. Mr. Cox has been a Member of the Advisory Board of Devonshire Investors since 2009. He serves on various Advisory Boards of Harvard Business School, Kennedy School, Harvard Medical School, Harvard Medical School Board of Fellows, Harvard School of Public Health and Princeton. Mr. Cox serves as a Trustee of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Museum of Fine Arts and Kleberg Foundation. He serves as a Member of Board of Trustees of In-Q-Tel, Inc and The Population Council, Inc. He is a member of the HBS Healthcare Initiative Advisory Board. He served as the Chairman and Director of National Venture Capital Association. Mr. Cox served as the Chairman of Howard. Mr. Cox served on the Board of Systems Analysis, from 2008 to 2010 and served on Secretary of Defense Business Board. He served as a Director of LandaCorp., Inc. since February 1998. He served as an Advisory Board Member of Fidelity Rutland Square Trust from 2006 to 2010 and a Member of the Secretary of Defense's Business Board of Directors from 2008 to 2010. He served as a Director of Centene Corporation, NE Media Group, Inc., Globe Newspaper Company, Inc., GE Medical Systems Lunar, Boston Globe, American Medical Systems Holdings Inc., APPEX, CompBenefits Corporation, BMR Financial Group Inc., CheckFree Corporation, Cogito Data Systems, Compdent, Execucom Systems Corporation, ISSCO Corporation, Lunar Corporation, MessageVine, Inc., Rehab Systems Company, Share Development Corporation, United Publishers Corporation, VHA Long Term Care, Multimate, ServiceMaster Diversified Health Services, Inc. He served as a Director of Tandem Health Care of Florida, LLC since April 1985. He served as a Director of ADP TotalSource Group, Inc. since February 1995, HPR Inc., since 1991 and AMISYS Synertech Inc., since May 1994. He has experience as a board member, having served on over 30 boards of directors, including many that were public companies and a number of which were in the healthcare industry. He has extensive experience in the venture capital business in assessing overall business risks, particularly related to acquisitions. Mr. Cox was commissioned a 2d Lieutenant Artillery, where he was a Distinguished Military Graduate of the Army R.O.T.C. program. He received the Harvard Business School Award for Alumni Achievement in 2003. Mr. Cox earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School in 1969. Mr. Cox received a JD from Columbia Law, where he was an International Fellow and an AB from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton, in 1964.
