Biography

 Dr. Sten Verland, Ph.D., founded Verland Capital ApS in 1994 and has been its Chief Executive Officer since 1994.  He served as a Member of Management Board at F2G Ltd. He was a Partner at Vækstfonden. In 1994, he headed a Management Buy-Out of a contract research organisation (CRO) specialising in laboratory animal science and non-clinical development. In 1998, he participated in the foundation of SYNARC Inc. and served for four and a half years as its Vice President and General Manager Europe. He was responsible for gaining market leadership on the European markets, negotiated acquisitions in Germany, France and the Netherlands and closed numerous service agreements with major pharmaceutical companies. He served as Research Manager at Scanpharm A/S. From 2003 to 2007, he was full time Chief Executive Officer at Verland Capital during which he co-founded or invested in 7 life science companies and served as non-executive director on 16 Boards. He co-founded StemCare A/S in 2002 and its Chairman. During his career, he has been active as a serial entrepreneur and business angel and has co-founded ten start-ups, primarily in the biotech and CRO fields. He served as the Chairman of Cytotrack ApS, Zymenex A/S, Action Pharma A/S, Continence Care A/S and T-cellic A/S. He has been a Director of Rigontec GmbH since March 24, 2015. He serves on the Boards of Anergis SA, Vaximm AG, Sunstone Capital A/S, BioVision A/S, Danish Venture Capital and Private Equity Association, StemCare A/S, Genobiotix ApS, Tera Holding A/S and Scanbur A/S. He has been a Director of Orphazyme ApS since February 2011. He served on the Boards of F2G Ltd., Effector Communications a/s, Action Pharma A/S, Bioneer A/S, Zymenex A/S, Glycom A/S, Survac ApS, CytoTrack ApS, Culture Screening ApS, Nordic Vaccine A/S, Synarc A/S, Synarc SA, FSA Holding A/S, Nemomed ApS, and QuantiBact ApS. He was on the board of Continence Care A/S, T-cellic A/S, and Taconic M&B A/S. He served as a Member of Scientific Advisory Board at Nordic Phytopharma A/S. He held a number of academic positions in the field of biomedical research including the position of Assistant Professor in Immunology at the University of Copenhagen. Dr. Verland is fluent in Danish and English. Dr. Verland holds a M.Sc. in Biology and Mathematics and a PhD in Immunology both from University of Copenhagen.
