Biography

Ahmed Lotfy got his B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D from Alexandria university, Egypt in 1982, 1989 and 1997 respectively. He worked with Schindler lifts in Alexandria in several sectors as field engineer, in technical office and finally as senior engineer and manager of maintenance and repair department. In 1994, he worked with the Arab Maritime Transport Academy, AMTA, (currently Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, AASTMT). Since 2008, he is professor in Electrical and Control Engineering department, College of Engineering and Technology. His research interests include HVDC, FACTS, renewable energy, power system protection, high voltage engineering and reliability. Dr. Lotfy is a senior IEEE member, a member of IEEE dielectrics and electrical insulation society, IEEE power & energy society, IEEE reliability society, and IEEE Technology and Engineering Management society. Dr. lotfy was vice-dean for postgraduate studies and research, college of engineering and technology from 2010 to 2012. Currently, he is dean of faculty affairs, AASTMT.
