Biography

Eminent personality who is working as professor in Arab academy for science and technology and maritime transport, Egypt.  Amira Shaher, an English Language Instructor at the Institute for Language Studies, has been working for the Arab Academy since 2002 as a part-time instructor. She is a graduate of the English Department, Faculty of Arts, Alexandria University and her major is English Literature. In 2008, she had a post-graduate diploma in Applied Linguistics with a “Very Good” Grade, which added to her pedagogical skills. Her passion for English Literature drove her to pursue her post-graduate studies in her major. She worked as Academic Advisor for Postgraduate Programs in Applied Linguistics, Joint degree between AAST and Institute of Applied Linguistics, Alexandria University, in fall 2013 till September 2014. She was a Certified Clerical Marker and Invigilator for IELTS International exams (April 2013 – June 2015) and meanwhile, she is a Certified Speaking and Writing Examiner. Her thirteen years of experience enhanced her proficiency level as Academic Instructor. Teaching ESP courses in Colleges of Engineering, Business Administration (English and Arabic sections), Hotels and Tourism, and Maritime Transport (Nautical and Marine Engineering departments) in addition to teaching nautical-oriented English courses at Port Training Institute to engineers and others of different professions aiming to enhance their English Language proficiency, is her main job. In 2010, she was fully-appointed as ESP Practitioner and held the post of Academic Coordinator. Concerning College of Language and Communication, she teaches conversation classes, and assists in teaching Victorian & Modern Poetry and Modern Drama. Currently, she is ISO Supervisor of Institute for Language Studies and College of Language and Communication.
