Biography

Dr. Amr Bayoumi is a professor at the Electronics and Communications Dept., College of Engineering at the Arab Academy for Science and Technology (AAST). He was earlier the department chair. Between 2006 and 2008, he was the Manager of Computing Research & Development, at Arab Co. for Computer Manufacturing (ACCM), where he led the design and product development of high performance computing platforms. Before that, from 1999 to 2006, he was directing Goldi Research, the business unit which served as the Central Research & Development Center for Bahgat Group. From 1995-1999, Dr. Bayoumi was a research staff member of ULSI Research lab, at Hewlett-Packard Laboratories, Palo Alto, California, working on nm-scale CMOS cleanroom technology development and device characterization. During his graduate research, he was with the NSF Center for Advanced Materials at North Carolina State University, an industry-SRC-Sematech-NSF sponsored center focused on Research-for-Manufacturing for CMOS. He worked prior to that at Standardata, where he developed computer hardware and embedded software solutions for US-based customers, and at Leanord Informatique, Lille, France, in the computer hardware R&D center. Research Interest

Dr. Bayoumi's current research is focused on numerical methods in semicodnuctor devices and circuits, cloud and distributed high performance and Scientific computing, hardware assisted EDA/CAD tools, and design of custom computing platforms, and GHz-range signal/power integrity.
