Biography
Dr. Amr Abdel-Kader spent thirty years of his career in the industry before joining the British University in Egypt. During this period he served in almost all Research and Development jobs. During the period 2005-2011 Dr. Amr Abdel Kader have served as the technical director of the Arab organization of Industrialization (AOI). During this period, Dr. Amr has developed a roadmap to allow the Arab Organization for Industrialization to contribute in all industrial activities for the new and renewable energies. The first phase of this road map was capacity building by training a team of AOI engineers and technicians on photovoltaic and wind technologies. Training programs were conducted locally and abroad. The second phase was to engage the team in small renewable energy projects. Small off-grid PV power plant was designed and implemented. A 20 KW wind turbine was also developed, manufactured and tested. The third phase of this road map was building a 600 KW grid- connected PV power plant. Commissioning and startup of this power plant took place by the end of 2010. The team of AOI has participated in all activities of this project including design, erection, operation and maintenance. In 2011 AOI has acquired a license for manufacturing and assembling a 1.5 MW IEC ClassI wind turbine from the German VENSYS company. After joining the British University in Egypt (BUE) Dr. Amr Abdel Kader continued to pursue his activities and research in photovoltaic and wind energy technologies, He is currently teaching wind energy systems and fundamentals, a post graduate course in MSc program. During the period 2010 -2014 Dr. Amr has participated as a CO-PI in two research projects. The first project was funded by MISR ELKHEIR foundation and focused on designing and manufacturing a mobile, small Reverse Osmosis PV powered desalination unit. The second project was funded by the RDI program and focused on the development of a High Efficiency Vertical Axis Wind Turbine for Off-Grid applications
