Biography
Architect Nouran Osama Hassan received her B.Sc from the British University in Egypt in 2015; she recieved a grade of excellent in both her graduation project and thesis. Her graduation project was a Presidential Complex located in Alamein. The vision was to turn Alamein into the new capital of Egypt to overcompensate for the growing population of Cairo. The presidential complex incorporated the usage of democratic architecture and created the participation of the public with the building. Moreover, she was awarded a certificate of merit from the Society of Egyptian Architects to reward her achievements in her graduation project. Her thesis is titled "Biomimicry: An approach for building skin energy regulation with special reference to commercial buildings in New Cairo." In her thesis, she explores the impact that nature can have on solving the energy problem in Egypt and designed a building skin which incorporates this method. She published a paper with Dr. Gehan Nagy titled "Biomimicry, an approach for Energy Efficient Building Skin Design." The paper was published in the IEREK conference in Egypt on "Improving Sustainability Concept in Developing Countries" on December 2015.
