Biography

Dr. Sherif Abdelkader earned his B.Sc. in Electronics and Communications in 1997 from the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University. This was followed by an M.Sc. in Mathematics and Engineering Physics in 2001 from the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University. His M.Sc. work was finding numerical models for RF MESFT amplifiers. Dr. Sherif served as a Teaching Assistant in the Mathematics and Engineering Physics Department in Cairo University from 1998 to 2001. In 2002, He joined McMaster University in Canada, where he earned his PhD from the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department in 2007. His Ph.D. work was about advanced direction finding algorithms in large sensor arrays with application in RADARs. During his Ph.D., Dr. Sherif worked in two joint projects between McMaster University and the Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) to develop algorithms for the optimal sensor array geometry under some physical constraints. He also worked as a Teaching Assistant in the Electrical Engineering Department in McMaster University during the same period. In 2003, Dr. Sherif joined the smart antennas research group in Duisburg-Essen University in Germany as a Visiting Researcher to participate in the development of the project “Robust multi-sensor space-time processing for wireless communications”. From 2007 to 2008, Dr. Sherif worked in a joint project between McMaster University and DRDC to develop advanced algorithms for the detection and classification of Low Probability to Intercept (LPI) RADAR signals. From 2008 to 2014, Dr. Sherif was appointed as a Signal Processing Scientist in KELK, a company located in Toronto (Canada), developing advanced sensors for rolling mills. Since 2014, Dr. Sherif joined the BUE as a lecturer in the Electrical Engineering Department. He is also serving as an Assistant Professor in the Mathematics and Engineering Physics Department in Cairo University.

Research Interest

Dr. Sherif's research interests include signal processing, RADARS, parameters estimation, statistical analysis, biomedical applications, and wireless communications.
