Biography
Andreas Kakarougkas is an assistant professor at AUC. Kakarougkas is interested in how our bodies respond to carcinogens in our environment. In particular, he is interested in how damage to our DNA can lead to cancer. He has received specialist training in all aspects of cell and molecular biology, toxicology and DNA repair analysis. His research in the DNA damage responses field was published in high impact peer reviewed journals such as Molecular Cell, Nucleic Acids Research and the EMBO journal. He received the UK’s Association of Radiation Research award in 2010 and 2012. In 2013, he received the UK’s MRC Centenary award, which is awarded to the very best young researchers. In 2014, he joined the Biology department at AUC in order to pursue his teaching and research objectives
