Biography
Sassan Asgari is professor, Faculty of Science, at The university of Queensland Australia. Prof Asgari is interested in investigating evolutionary adaptations employed by parasites, pathogens and their host insects that play important roles in their interactions. These include: Investigating the role of small RNA molecules (microRNAs) in insect biology and host-pathogen interactions. Understanding mechanisms evolved by parasitic insects to manipulate host physiology; including immunity and development. Exploring virus-encoded genes that are responsible for replication, pathogenesis and manipulation of host gene expression machinery.
