Biography
John Lowry is a geographer with a broad background in geospatial applications addressing human-environment interactions. His research focuses on innovative methodologies within geospatial science to address theoretical questions and applied objectives in urban ecology, environmental planning and management, public health and epidemiology, and disaster risk assessment. Since 2010 his research has focused on these topics in the developing country context of the South Pacific. Methodological approaches include the use of spatial statistics, multivariate statistics, multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA), and participatory GIS. Teaching interests include introductory and advanced GIS, quantitative methods in geography (spatial statistics), cartography and geovisualisation, introductory remote sensing, research methods in geography, and E-learning
