Jone Lako

Biography

Mr. Lako, as an island boy attended Mabula District School, Cicia, Lau in his early days; completed his secondary education at Queen Victoria School (Tailevu north of Vitilevu) before joining Fiji’s public sector for 15 years. He attended USP after 12 years of leaving Secondary School as an extension student (now DFL or print mode) whilst working in Ba in 1995. He became a fulltime student in 1998 until he graduated with Diploma in 2000 and Bachelor of Arts Degree in 2001. He commenced postgraduate studies in 2002 whilst pursuing other careers in the private sector and civil society organizations within Fiji. He was able to complete his postgraduate studies after he was awarded a Graduate Assistant (GA) scholarship programme from USP (SMPA), to complete his Masters of Arts Programme in 2008. As GA, qualified him to become part-time Tutor and Marker. He was recruited as a Tutor on fulltime basis after graduated with Masters of Art (via thesis) in 2009 and is an Assistant Lecturer teaching in the field of Human Resources and Industrial (employment) Relations since 2011.  Jone’s research interest lies within the diversified field of human resources and employment relations as well as gender issues within the Pacific region.
