Lynn Beckles is a Fellow at the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management. Mrs. Beckles is currently completing her doctoral studies at the University of West Indies Cave Hill Campus, Barbados. Her research was conducted in the Fiji Islands and focused on understanding the cultural nuances within the service delivery experience in the hospitality industry. Holding a Master of Science in International Trade Policy, Lynn comes to the department with extensive global experience in the tourism and hospitality industry in policy, strategic and operational areas. This is complemented by her qualifications and training which has been focused on human resource development, the trade and development priorities for Small Island Developing States and international management and marketing in service enterprises. Maintain her connections with the Caribbean, Lynn continues to work with entrepreneurs in a range of service enterprises, providing mentorship and coaching in the development of sustainable business operations, service delivery systems and accessing international markets. She has contributed to national and international policy discussion forums to address concerns that were specific to the tourism industry, the development of inter-sectoral linkages and expanded opportunities for entrepreneurs in island destinations. Her skill set also extends to vocational areas of training within customer care and management, and she is qualified to design competence based curriculum, assess performance against occupational standards and conduct institutional evaluations.
