Biography

"Knut Ringbom, Ph.D. (Chem. Eng.), Co-founder and CEO at Biovian Ltd. Before being appointed CEO, Dr. Knut Ringbom was Director of Business Development and Projects and at that time he was responsible for customer Business Development, Projects, Marketing and Sales at Biovian. He is one of the founders and shareholders of Biovian. Biovian provides process development, scale-up and cGMP contract manufacturing of biopharmaceuticals to customers worldwide. Before joining Biovian Knut Ringbom was Head of Process Development and Manufacturing at Biotie Therapies Corp. Knut Ringbom headed a group of experts in mammalian, yeast and microbial cell culture, protein purification, protein characterization and assay development. Knut Ringbom was also responsible project manager for one of BioTie’s drug development projects having a key role in the drug development in-house as well as with external partners.  Before joining BioTie Knut Ringbom worked at PerkinElmer Life Sciences (Wallac) as research scientist.  Knut Ringbom has also held project manager and marketing positions at Metso Corporation. Knut Ringbom has a doctoral degree from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering at Abo Akademi University and several scientific publications (10). The doctoral thesis ”Adaptive Models and On-Line Simulation Applied to Bioreactors” was made in a research collaboration with Genencor intl.
