Biography
Dr. Härkönen is a senior research scientist at the Finnish Meteorological Institute. His MSc thesis in physics (1982) dealt with instrumentation, while the doctoral thesis (2002) describes the evaluation of the line source dispersion model CAR-FMI for the emissions from an open road network. Dr. Harkonen is a coauthor in 27 peer reviewed articles in scientific journals and about 80 congress and other scientific publications.
Research Interest
He is an expert in the local scale dispersion modeling of pollutants from fixed and moving sources. He also applies the statistical analysis and statistical signal processing methods to the measured and modeled air quality data within the boundary layer.
