Biography
Val Votrin has over 15 years’ experience in environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA), project finance, environmental and social due diligence (ESDD), environmental policy analysis and strategy formulation, corporate sustainability management and environmental and social management plans across Europe and central Asia. He has experience of undertaking and managing environmental and social assessments at major development projects within oil and gas, mining, petrochemicals, energy and infrastructure. He has experience of working to international finance institution (IFI) environmental and social safeguard policies and procedures, having completed projects for major development banks and international lenders including the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Deutsche Bank, Société Générale and ING. Val holds a PhD in Environmental Science and an MSc in Human Ecology from the Free University of Brussels, Belgium. He is a Belgian national and a native Russian speaker who is fluent in English with good Dutch language skills.
