Biography
My main research interests focuses on war experiences and the cultural history of war in the 20the century. Another important field of interest is letter research. Currently I am examining private conceptions of time and future in wartime correspondences between soldiers and their families during the Continuation War, 1941–44. My research is conducted within the research project “Wartime Visions of the Future. Public Discourses and Private Conceptions in Finland, 1941-1944” lead by prof. Tiina Kinnunen and funded by the Academy of Finland. My research focuses on visions – including hopes as well as concerns and fears – of individuals about their own life and the life of their loved ones in post-war Finland.
