Koskinen-koivisto Eerika

Biography

erika Koskinen-Koivisto is a Postdoctoral Researcher of Ethnology. She studies the engagements with WWII heritage in Finnish Lapland. Her current research is part of a multidisciplinary research project Lapland’s Dark Heritage (The Finnish Academy). Her research interests include narrative, material heritage, ethnographic methods, place-based memory, gender and working life. She is part of gender history and postwar studies research groups. Koskinen-Koivisto earned her PhD degree in 2013 at the University of Jyväskylä. In her dissertation, she studied gender, class and work in the 20th-century life story of a female labourer. From 8/2013 to 10/2016, she worked at the University of Helsinki at European Ethnology. In her former postdoctoral project, she examined the everyday life and ideals of working class families in the 1950s. Koskinen-Koivisto spent three research periods abroad: in 2009-2010 as ASLA-Fulbright Grantee at the Center for Folklore Studies, The Ohio State University; in 2014 as Visiting Research Fellow at the Department of Comparative Literature and Folklore, the University of Wisconsin-Madison; and in autumn 2016 at the Centre of Battlefield Archaeology, the University of Glasgow. She has served in positions of trust in Ethnos, Finnish Society of Labor History and Swedish Literature Society in Finland and is a member of editorial boards of electronic journals Elore and Ethnologia Fennica as well as Vice Editor-in-Chief of Studia Fennica Ethnologica. Her main publications include co-edited volume Moniulotteinen etnografia (2014) and monography Her Own Worth (2014).
