Biography

I obtained a Master's Degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the University of Helsinki in 2013, and I have been a PhD candidate in the Department of History and Ethnology since 2014. My doctoral dissertation focuses on the political agency of displaced and resettled slum-dwellers in the city of Ahmedabad in western India. In 2015–2016, I was affiliated with CEPT University while conducting ethnographic fieldwork in a slum resettlement site in Ahmedabad.

Research Interest

My research interests include urban anthropology, theory of place and space, materiality and ethnicity. I am a member of the department's Poverty and Development Research Center, which focuses on issues of urban poverty and inequality in so-called developing countries.
