Biography
Charlie Sartain was appointed a non-executive director of ALS Limited effective 1 February 2015. Charlie spent more than 30 years with MIM Holdings and then Xstrata after it acquired MIM. He led Xstrata’s global copper business as Chief Executive of Xstrata Copper for nine years from 2004 and prior to that held senior executive positions with the company in Latin America and Australia. Charlie is currently a non-executive director of Austin Engineering Limited, Goldcorp Inc., Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Sustainable Minerals Institute at the University of Queensland and a member of the UQ Senate. He is also a Board Member of Wesley Medical Research. Previously he was Chairman of the International Copper Association, a Member of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Council on Australian Latin American Relations and a Director of Xstrata Schweiz Limited.
