Biography
Olivier Pilmis's current work focuses on "markets for economic forecasting." Knowledge, careers and devices in the face of uncertainty " . They are pursuing a reflection initiated since a doctorate on the "markets" of intermittent comedians and freelance journalists, and developed in the framework of post-doctoral research, some of them at the CSO. They propose an economic sociology based on the sociology of risks, labor and professions. It is about understanding how individuals make up with uncertainty. In this context, forecasting presents itself doubly as a discourse, on the economy and the future, in order to reduce risk and uncertainty or, better, to transform uncertainty into risk. Taking the prevision as a sociological object, and considering it both from the angle of its production and its reception, these works are organized around a few questions: what is a discourse on the future? How is it produced? How does it succeed in forming itself as a legitimate prevision? What, ultimately, are the social conditions for the effectiveness of these discourses?
