Biography
title The genocidal experience. Exercising violence: Cambodian society under the Khmer Rouge regime. 1975-1979. summary The work undertaken aims to analyze the application in Cambodia of the notion of genocide and to dwell on the practices of violence used by the Khmer Rouge to achieve their ideological purpose. The challenge is to study the experience of violence in Cambodia from 1975 to 1979 in order to approach and to identify, through its most extreme reality, the processes and mechanisms at work which promote this shift into genocide. It is also a question of determining what leads "ordinary men" to exercise, to produce this violence and in order to reveal, through the murderous action, its targets, its gestures, its forms and the ideology which conditions the nature and basis of the process of violence in Cambodia and its specificity.
