Biography
Maksym V. Kopanitsa received his PhD in biophysics at the Bogomoletz Institute of Physiology (Kyiv, Ukraine), where he carried out research on pharmacology of voltage- and ligand-gated ion channels and synaptic transmission. During his postdoctoral appointments at the University of Dundee and the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, he worked with mutant mice to study genetic regulation of synaptic transmission in brain slices. Before joining Charles River, he was the Research Manager and Chief Operating Officer at Synome Ltd, where he led a multidisciplinary team of scientists deciphering phenotypic effects of mutations and pharmacological treatments using electrophysiological recordings, fluorescence imaging, and behavioral tests. Dr. Kopanitsa is a co-author of over 20 research publications in the area of neuroscience, including papers in Nature, Neuroscience, and Science Signaling.
