Biography
His current research focus is mostly centered on the processes of emotional regulation in psychopathology, and their determinants from a biopsychosocial perspective. It is established that emotional functioning is linked to the principles of homeostasis. This leads to a multi-level and integrative view of the impact (both protective and deleterious) of emotional processes on mental and somatic health. The aim is to investigate the cognitive and emotional functioning involved in the regulation of emotions and social skills, focusing on markers of sensitivity to reward and reinforcement (eg physical and social hedonism), as well as neuropsychobiological markers (eg inhibition control). These markers are related to emotional introspection and emotional introspection, as well as the motivational balance (systems derived from affective neuroscience, see Pansksepp, 1998, 2006), involved in cognitive-affective and social skills (ie empathy).
