Biography
He did my PhD in Neurosciences at Bordeaux 1 University under the direction of Dr. Pierre Cazala and in the laboratory of Professor Robert Jaffard. The aim was to evaluate the value of developing a model of intracerebral self-administration of drugs. This work made it possible to establish the usefulness of this model to study the regions and cerebral circuits involved in the addictive properties of drugs. They then determined the role of the various opioid and dopaminergic receptors in the rewarding effects of opiates and cocaine in several brain regions, in particular the ventral tegmental area and the nucleus accumbens. After a thesis in February 1997, he joined the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla (CA, USA) in March 1997, in the laboratory of Dr. George F. Koob and under the direction of Dr. Lisa H. Gold until September 2000. During this post-doctorate he was able to adapt different models of addictive behaviors to the mouse so that they can be used with genetically modified mice. Joined the CNRS in October 2000, he joined the CNIC and joined the team "Interaction between emotions and memory systems" (D. Béracochéa) at INCIA.
