Biography
Bastien François is professor of political science at Paris I University; he directed the department of political science of the Sorbonne from 2010 to 2015. His work focuses on the institutions and the professions of politics. After studying law, political science (Paris I) and economics (ESSEC), Bastien François deals with macroeconomic forecasting and human resources at the General Management of the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations (1985-1988). ). Recruited at the political science department of Paris I as ALER then ATER, he supported a doctoral thesis in political science and a habilitation to direct research in 1992. Having passed the competition of aggregation, he was appointed professor at the University Rennes I in 1993, then elected to the Paris I University in 1998. He was a member of the National Committee of the CNRS (1995-1997), the National Council of Universities (1998-2002, and since 2015), the jury of the competition Aggregation in Political Science (2004-2005) and Public Law (2007-2008). He directs the Master 2 "Public Affairs" of Paris 1. Director of collections at Editions Economica, he is responsible for the Politix reading committee , a social science journal for politics , of which he was one of the founders.
