Biography
Deputy coordinator of the project "Employment and socio-economic changes in Nordeste", UFRJ / FINEP / IPEA / IBGE Museu Nacional Agreement, October 1975 - July 1977 (management team: Moacir Palmeira, coordinator, José Sérgio Leite Lopes, deputy coordinator). Responsible for the training of rural workers' unionists (assessor educacional) at FETAG-RJ (Federação dos trabalhadores na Agricultura do Estado do Rio de Janeiro) from April 1977 to January 1983 and from April 1986 to June 1988. Assistant Director in charge of the PhD in Social Anthropology (PPGAS) at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (August 1986 to August 1988). Director of the Doctorate in Social Anthropology of the National Museum of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro - PPGAS / MN-UFRJ (August 1988 to August 1990). Co-director with Ignacy Sachs of the EHESS Contemporary Brazil Research Center (CRBC) from February 1996 to September 2009. Scientific Secretary of the Brazilian Chair of Social Sciences "Sérgio Buarque de Holanda", from the Foundation House of Science of Man, 1999 - 2013. Elected Member of the Board of Directors of the School of Advanced Studies in Social Sciences EHESS - 2001-2005 Member of the Pedagogical Council of the doctoral training in Ethnology and Anthropology of the EHESS since 2011.
Research Interest
Globalization of agricultural markets, peasant mobilizations and transformation of modes of domination in Brazil. University mobility and international circulation of ideas.
