Born in 1960, former student ENS (1979-1982), - DEA History and DEA - History of Law, Doctor of State in Law (1985), - Associate of the Faculty of Law (History of Law) 1988 - Professor at the Lyon III University (1988-1998), at the University of Burgundy (1998-2003), at the Ecole Normale Supérieure since 2003, - Junior Member of the Institut Universitaire de France (1994-1998), - Dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Science of the University of Burgundy (2000-2003), - President of the Exhibition Committee for the Bicentenary of the Civil Code (2004) - Director of the Department of Social Sciences of the ENS (2006-2010) -Member of the CNRS National Committee (section 36) 2008 to 2012 - Director of UMR 7074 "Center for Theory and Analysis of Law" since 1st July 2015 - Elected in 2013 Senior Member of the Institut Universitaire de France
