Biography
Emmanuel PICAVET, after his doctoral research carried out in the framework of the interuniversity seminar of Philosophy of Sciences (Universities of Paris 4, Paris 10 and ENS Paris) and the defense of his thesis in 1994 (rational choice and public life) Essay on the principle of rationality in the mathematics of decision-making, University of Paris-Sorbonne), was appointed lecturer in political philosophy (UFR 10) at the Pantheon-Sorbonne University and joined the research team in philosophy of science which was to become UMR 8590, in the pole of the philosophy of the human sciences. He was deputy director of the UFR 10 in 1999-2000.
Research Interest
Emmanuel PICAVET's research concerns simultaneously political theory (theory of norms and individual rights, applications of game theory and social choice theory to rights and norms) and the epistemology of political and social sciences. . The main thrust of this research has so far been the deepening of rational choice methodology in the field of explaining and justifying the acceptance of ethical or political values ​​and norms.
