Biography
Director of research at INSERM, Jean Christophe Poncer has since 2007 headed the AVENIR team "Plasticity of Cortical Networks and Epilepsy" at the Institut du Fer à Moulin. After a doctoral thesis at the Institut Pasteur and the University of Zurich (Switzerland), he completed a post-doctoral internship at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (New York, USA) before joining INSERM in 1999. works on the fundamental mechanisms of synaptic plasticity in cortical networks and their involvement in epileptogenesis. Jean Christophe Poncer has been teaching for several years at the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan (Master of Biology) and at the Pierre & Marie Curie University (Master in Integrative Biology and Physiology) where he is responsible for a Teaching Master 2 entirely devoted to the hippocampal cortex. He is also a member of the Pedagogical Council of the Doctoral School Brain, Cognition, Behavior (ED3C) of the University Pierre & Marie Curie. He is also an elected member since 2016 of the specialized scientific committee (CSS) 4 "Neurosciences" of INSERM.
