Biography
Following a thesis on the educational issues of the Mayan peoples in Chiapas, Bruno Baronnet has been conducting postdoctoral research since 2010 in the field of anthropology of educational practices among Nahuas peasants in central Mexico. Using ethnographic data, it helps to highlight the social logics that determine the strategies of the Latin American Indigenous peoples towards the school. This research focuses on national policies for intercultural education as well as on original projects led by regional organizations which, like Zapatista activists, tend to educate the younger generations in order to exercise the rights of autonomy their territories.

Anthropology of education, youth and social movements in rural and multicultural societies in Latin America. - Discriminations, identities, struggles for autonomy and policies of bilingual and intercultural education. - Reports of power, ethnicity and racism in conflicts between Latin American states and indigenous peoples.
