Biography
Jacques Bellalou got an Engineering degree in biochemical engineering at the University of Compiégne that was completed by a PHD. He joined the Institut Pasteur in 1980 at the laboratory of Bacterial Vaccines to work on the improvements of the whole cell and accellular vaccine against Bordetella pertussis. From 1986 to 1995 he participated, at he at the Unit of Biochemistry of Cell Regulations, to studies on the molecular mechanism of a two-component system and on the functional activity of the Bordetella adenylate cyclase. From 1996 to 1998, he worked at Unit of Cell Biochemistry and was involved in studies concerning in vitro evolution of E.coli strain adapted to thymine starvation. Since 1999, he leads a group in charge of the production and purification of recombinant proteins at the PFPR core facility. As technological co-developments with industrial partner, he developed with Fogale Nanotech Company a full-automated microfermentors device, particularly useful for difficult proteins whose production may require sophisticated processes.
