Biography
Sophie Ayciriex earned her M.Sc. degrees in Biochemistry and Structural Biology – Structure/Function in Macromolecules and Living Processes in 2006 and 2007 respectively, at the Institute of Pharmacology and Structural Biology (IPBS/CNRS, UMR 5089) and University Paul Sabatier (Toulouse, France). She obtained her European Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry in 2010 at the University of Bordeaux. During her PhD fellowship (2007-2010), she investigated the characterization of new acyltransferases in yeast by reverse genetics and Lipidomics analyses (mass spectrometry). With an EMBO short-term fellowship (ASTF number 373–2008), she explored the advantages of shotgun-lipidomics on high-resolution mass spectrometry through a collaborative project with the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory of Andrej Shevchenko (Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics, MPI-CBG, Dresden, Germany). For her first post-doctoral fellowship (2011-2012), she joined the laboratory of Organic, Medicinal and Extractive Chemistry and Experimental Toxicology – COMETE (UMR 8638 CNRS) at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University Paris Descartes in Paris, France. She explored the mapping of lipidome variations during neurodegenerative processes (collaborations: Prof. Charles Duyckaerts and Dr. Nathalie Cartier-Lacave). Then, she went back to the laboratory of Andrej Shevchenko (MPI-CBG, Dresden) to investigate the lipid-protein interactions and the impact of diet on Drosophila photoreceptors during a second post-doctorate (2012-2015).
