Biography

Paolo Sossi mis a scientist in department of Cosmochemistry, Astrophysics and Geophysical Experimentation in Institute of Physics of the Globe of Paris. Qualifications BSc. (Hons), 2010, Adelaide; PhD, 2015, ANU

Research Interest

My interests lie in unravelling the high temperature characteristics (structure, oxidation, geochemistry) of melts and minerals. This is achieved by a combination of thermodynamic and petrologic modelling, spectroscopy, experimental petrology and stable isotope geochemistry. The overarching theme is to understand the variables that control planetary formation, differentiation, and melting and how the Earth differs from other terrestrial planets and meteorites. Broad themes include: Oxidation state of the mantle Experimental quantification of non-traditional stable isotope fractionation Petrogenesis of ultramafic rocks (komatiites, peridotites) Structure and redox of magmatic liquids Composition of the terrestrial planets (core formation, volatility)
