Biography
Elisabeth Giacobino is a physicist who works in the fields of quantum optics, Nonlinear optics and the quantum information has made a name for itself. It is CNRS-Research Director at the Laboratoire Kastler Brossel of the Université Pierre et Marie Curie inParis, where she has been researching since the end of the 1960s and has been director since 1982. In her career It has first dealt with the physics of laser, laser spectroscopy and two-Before it was already in the middle of the 1980sState of the quantum information. Here, among other things, she examines The potential of ultra-pure gases for the production and storage of quantum informationAs well as a quantum repeater.Another important research field of giacobinos are semiconductor systems. So she examinedThe quantum noise of semiconductor lasers and it succeeded to this disturbing effect(In which it holds the world record), with great application potential in theTelecommunications. It studies semiconducting nanocrystals as a single photon source and theMulti-body quantum dynamics in semiconductor quantum wells and polaritons. In the latter caseThey are interested in the spin dynamics, the quantum Hall effect and the properties as Quantum fluids. She succeeded in showing the super-fluidity of such systems.
