Biography
Education: Postgraduate Adult Nurse Practitioner Program Mass General Hospital Institute of Health Professions B.S.N., M.S., University of California San Francisco R.N., Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing Courses Taught : Nursing 1000 Areas of Expertise : Nursing Education, Adult Nurse Practitioner, Community, Clinic and Home Care Nursing Prior Experience : During my fifty years as a professional nurse, I have worked as an adult nurse practitioner in long-term care and correctional medical care. I have held positions in acute hospitals, community settings in the home and school, assisted living clinic nurse and adult day health director. As a member of the Mass Coalition for Nurse Practitioners, I coordinated educational programs for advanced practice nurses. I am a Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society member who supports research in nursing. I attend annual in-service educational programs in primary medical care updates and nurse education. Academic Research and Interests : I have conducted a student survey research project on utilization of online learning modules. I have volunteered as a nurse practitioner in medical clinics in Dominican Republic and Brazil. I have taught English as a second language to Chinese and Mongolian teachers in a summer Amity Christian program. I have traveled around the world and enjoy cultural diversity. Why I Teach : I am enthusiastic about teaching students how to grow in their nursing practice and profession. Favorite Book: AJN Nursing and Clinician Reviews journals to maintain current standards of care. Favorite Film : The Most Exotic Marigold Hotel, Out of Africa Best Part of Being at Labouré : I have the pleasure of working with students who are eager to learn and collaborating with dedicated staff and faculty at Labouré College.
