Biography
Christophe Tzourio is a neurologist and epidemiologist. He was an intern of the Hospitals of Paris and Head of Clinic in Neurology at the Hôpital Lariboisière. He joined INSERM in 1994 as Research Officer and was promoted to Director of Research in 2000. In 2005, he became director of a new INSERM U708 research unit at the Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital in Paris . In 2001, he was appointed professor of epidemiology at the University of Bordeaux and a hospital practitioner at the CHU de Bordeaux. In September 2013, he became director of Bordeaux Population Health (BPH), Inserm U1219, at the University of Bordeaux. Functions Christophe Tzourio is Director of the Bordeaux Population Health (BPH) research center, Inserm U1219, at the University of Bordeaux, which comprises more than 300 people. He is co-responsible for the 3C study, a large population-based cohort study that aims to study the relationships between vascular factors and the risk of dementia in the elderly. He is also co-lead in the LEOPOLD study, a multicenter intervention study on the prevention of cerebral vascular lesions by lowering blood pressure. Christophe Tzourio was awarded funding for the establishment of a large student health cohort under the prestigious "Investments for the Future" call for proposals, the i-Share study (internet based students' health research enterprise). More than 10,000 students are already enrolled in this study, which will better assess students' health and explore specific issues such as brain maturation or the interaction between psychological traits and brain structures.
