Biography
P. Burbaud is Professor of Physiology at Victor Segalen University, Bordeaux2, Neurologist, Head of the Department of Clinical Neurophysiology and Functional Exploration of the Nervous System of the Bordeaux University Hospital. A specialist in abnormal movements and behavioral neurology, he is particularly involved in the management of patients with deep cerebral stimulation in motor pathologies (Parkinson's disease, dystonia, chorea, tremor) or neuro-psychiatric disorders (obsessional disorders compulsive disorders, Gilles de la Tourette syndrome). He coordinates a research group "Thalamo-cortical networks and action planning" within CNRS Unit 5293, led by Erwan Bézard. His recent research activity relates to the role of the mesial frontal cortex in behavioral planning using unitary electrophysiology techniques in subhuman primate and functional imaging (fMRI and qEEG) in humans. He is also particularly involved in pathophysiological research in the fields of Parkinson's disease, dystonias, repetitive behaviors (obsessional-compulsive disorders, Gilles de la Tourette's syndrome).
