Biography
In multicellular organisms, epithelial tissue proliferation and apoptosis are tightly regulated to generate tissues of the correct size and shape. Proliferation and apoptosis are under the control of epithelial polarity scaffolds sensing density and integrity of the epithelial sheet, and of intercellular signalling pathways, including Notch. During carcinoma progression, epithelial polarity and cell signalling amongst others are impaired or misregulated, impacting ultimately on cell proliferation, apoptosis, but also on cell adhesion and invasion. Using a combination of genetic, genomic, and cell biology approaches, in both Drosophila, and human cancer cell lines
