Biography
He is a neurologist and the main part of his work consisted in analyzing at the cellular level the capacities of functional modifications, learning and memory of identified neural networks whose fundamental property is to be central generators of motor programs. These studies show that these networks are not only subject to functional plasticity, but above all that the electrical activity they generate spontaneously contributes to adaptive and learning abilities. Cellular mechanisms were analyzed. They involve a plasticity of the active membrane properties of neurons in addition to synaptic plasticity and passive properties conventionally described.
