Biography
The research interest of their group concerns the neuropsychiatric disorders, mainly psychosis, depression and dementia. In these diseases, they study the functional anatomy of higher cognitive processes related to voluntary action, attention, and memory, as well as the cerebral glucose metabolism and the neurotransmission. For the functional studies of higher cognitive processes, we use functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and electroencephalography (EEG). For brain glucose metabolism and neurotransmission studies, we use positron emission tomography (PET) and single photon emission tomography (SPECT). In cognitive neuroimaging, one of the topic focuses on the links between perception and action, by studying the integration of the sensory signals and the covert processes underlying action planification, in an attempt to understand the dysfunctions of human behavior. Another line of research is centered on the analysis of brain oscillations subtending attentional and memory processes, in order to characterize the distributed neural networks involved.
