Biography
Michel Spiro, 66, was elected in January 2010 President of the CERN Council, the highest authority of this institution, a position he held until 2012. He is now a Scientific Advisor at CEA, AERES Scientific Delegate, President of the ORIGINS Association, member of the Paris Center for Cosmological Physics. He is involved and presides over numerous scientific committees.Former student of the Ecole Polytechnique, Michel Spiro receives his science doctorate in Saclay, CEA, which he joined in 1970.His early research in particle physics leads him to participate to the discovery of the W and Z bosons (UA1 experiment). He then studies cosmic particles in participating to the Gallex experiment for the detection of solar neutrinos and, as a spokesperson, in the experiment searching for dark objects (Eros).
