Chris Baker

Biography

  Chris holds a BSc (Hons) in Mineral Technology (1976) and an MBA (1994) from the University of Otago, New Zealand. He is a member of the Institute of Directors (NZ), and a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. Outside RSC, Chris is the CEO of Straterra Inc., a member-based organisation established to provide high level representation and advocacy for the resource sector in New Zealand. Chris’s other current roles include Chairman of the Coal Association of New Zealand, Chairman of mineral exploration company Auzex Exploration Ltd and Chairman, MinEx – New Zealand Mineral Industry Health and Safety Council. His experience spans 35+ years in mining and energy in Australia and New Zealand, in executive and governance roles and across many commodities, in particular gold and coal.
