Biography
Claudie Haigneré is a French national. She is a rheumatologist, doctor of sciences (option neurosciences) and was selected in 1985 by the CNES (National Center for Space Studies) as an astronaut candidate. She has been an independent director of Sanofi since 2008, a member of the Appointments and Governance Committee and the Compensation Committee. Claudie Haigneré started her career as a rheumatologist at the Cochin Hospital (Paris) from 1984 to 1992. In 1996, she left for a scientific space mission aboard the station MIR (French-Russian mission Cassiopée) and in 2001, in scientific and technical space mission aboard the International Space Station (Andromeda mission). From 2002 to 2004, she was French Minister Delegate for Research and New Technologies, then from 2004 to 2005, French Minister Delegate for European Affairs. From 2005 to 2009 she was Advisor to the Director General of ESA (European Space Agency). Claudie Haigneré currently holds several directorships in companies and foundations in France: France Telecom, the Fondation de France, the CGénial Foundation, the L'Oréal Corporate Foundation, the Lacoste Foundation, the Fondation École Normale Supérieure, the Condorcet Campus and the Higher Education and Research Center-Sorbonne-Arts-et-Métiers. She is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of La Géode, President of the Universcience (City of Science and Industry and Palais de la Découverte) as well as Member of the Academy of Technologies, the Academy of Sports, of the National Academy of Air and Space.
