Biography
Patrick Kron, a French national, graduated from École Polytechnique and the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Mines de Paris. He has been an independent director of Sanofi since 2014. He began his career at the Ministry of Industry from 1979 to 1984 and then joined the Pechiney Group where, from 1984 to 1988, he was responsible for the operation of one of the largest factories of the group installed in Greece, before to take the general direction of the Greek subsidiary of Pechiney. He then held various operational and financial positions between 1988 and 1993, leading a set of aluminum processing activities, and then as President and CEO of Pechiney Electrometallurgy. In 1993, Patrick Kron became a member of the Executive Committee of the Pechiney Group and Chairman of the Board of Carbone Lorraine, which he managed from 1993 to 1997. From 1995 to 1997, he led the food packaging business, hygiene and beauty of Pechiney and serves as the Chief Operating Officer of the American National Can Company in Chicago. Patrick Kron joined Imerys in 1998 and Alstom in 2002. He was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Alstom on January 1, 2003, then Chairman and Chief Executive Officer on March 11, 2003. Patrick Kron was elevated to the rank of Chevalier of the Legion of Honor in 2004 and Officer of the National Order of Merit in 2007.
