Biography

I am a lecturer associated with UPMC since April 2007 and in this role I am responsible for several education units (EU). Since 2009 I have been co-responsible for the setting up of certain EU member states in the new Biology - Mathematics (UPMC) in Roscoff: Cell Biology, Living Diversity and Integrated Biology of multicellular organisms, for which I develop courses, practices and tutorials . I also work in the EU of the Master of Integrative Biology and Physiology (BIP): Biology and biotechnology of marine algae (as coordinator) and Genomics of marine organisms. Part of my teaching activity is also dedicated to international courses at the 3rd cycle level, such as MEEG. I appreciate teaching and consider it a very important part of my professional life. I am also convinced that teaching broadens my horizons and that interaction with students makes me a better scientist.

Research Interest

My professional life since 1989 has been devoted to the study of algae, and mainly marine macroalgae. My path has integrated the physiology, ecophysiology, functional genomics and genomics of red, green and brown algae as biological models. The main subject of my work was the physiology of stress, especially the role of reactive oxygen during stress, the expression of genes during various stresses and the interaction between stress and photosynthesis. I am also interested in the genes and genomes of macroalgae, specifically the red algae Chondrus crispus and Porphyra umbilicalis , as well as that of the brown alga Ectocarpus siliculosus.
