Biography
Dr. Carol Trent comes to Saint Francis University from the University of Pittsburgh where she developed online courses for the Administration of Justice program as a Visiting Instructor. She also taught several courses including Deviance and the Law, Crime Scene Investigation, and Criminalistics. In 2015, she earned her Ph.D. in Criminology from the University of South Florida. Her dissertation is titled Elite Deviance, Organized Crime, and Homicide Rates: A Cross-National Quantitative Analysis. While at the University of South Florida, she was a research assistant, the assistant to the Graduate Director, and taught Organized Crime, State Crime, and International and Comparative Criminology and Criminal Justice. She previously received her M.A. in Criminology from the University of South Florida and her B.A. in Administration of Justice and Humanities from the University of Pittsburgh. While at the University of Pittsburgh, she worked in security for Carnegie Mellon University and as a federal law enforcement officer for the Federal Reserve Bank of Pittsburgh.
Research Interest
Dr. Trent’s research interests include macro-level criminological theory, comparative criminology, and crimes of the powerful.
