Biography
Lakshmi “Bala” Balasubramanian, M.D., M.S., specializes in medical oncology and hematology. She is board certified in medical oncology and hematology. Dr. Bala’s special areas of interest include breast cancer, colorectal malignancies, women's health, novel therapeutic agents and outcomes research.Dr. Bala completed a fellowship program in Hematology/Medical Oncology at Northwestern University, Chicago. During her fellowship at Northwestern University, Dr. Bala's research focused on outcomes research as part of the RADAR group. She also holds a Masters in Molecular Genetics and Microbiology and completed her Internship and Residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine, Gainesville, Florida. She graduated from medical school with highest honors from Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University-Kilpauk Medical College, Chennai, India. She has written and presented many scientific papers related to cancer biology, genetics, cancer care and blood disorders.
