Biography
Jonathan Braun, M.D., Ph.D., is Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, and Molecular and Medical Pharmacology, at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He is the Chair of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Director of Tumor Immunology at the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Co-Director of the UCLA Institute of Molecular Medicine (IMED). A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Braun was raised in Los Angeles, where he studied violin in the community and modern western history in the public schools. An undergraduate at Stanford University, he received his bachelor of science in chemistry and biology in 1975. He pursued medical studies and doctoral research at Harvard Medical School and in the laboratory of Emil Unanue; he received his M.D.-PhD. in 1981. After residency in Pathology at Brigham and Women's Hospital, and a postdoctoral fellowship with David Baltimore at the Whitehead Institute, he joined the faculty at the UCLA School of Medicine in 1985.
