Biography
Dr. Missiakas received her Ph.D. in Biochemistry at the Université of Paris XI in Orsay, France (1991). She obtained subsequent post-doctoral training in bacterial genetics and physiology at the University of Utah (1992) and Geneva, Switzerland (1993). She served as a Maître Assistante at the Centre Medical Universitaire in Geneva from 1994-1995. She joined the Centre Nationale de Recherche Scientifique (CNRS, Marseilles, France) as a Group leader in 1995. Dr. Missiakas received her habilitation in Microbiology from the Université de la Méditerranée (1997). In 1998, Dr. Missiakas was appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics at the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Missiakas joined the Biological Sciences Division faculty at the University of Chicago in 2001.
